OPERATION BLIZZARD!!! '09 UPDATE!!!
It's that time again. Check the notice in the latest supply line for details on OPERATION BLIZZARD! Lot's of folks think-no way, that looks too cold. But everyone that has gone has had a blast and tend to come back each year. Ride in weasels on the same snow covered ground that the 10th mtn div. boys did in WWII. Now that is hot! Ride up to the top of the pass and sit on top of the world. What a view! It's like being on Mt. Everest. If you get tired of MV's (I don't know how you could) you can go to Vail to ski or Leadville to party. Give us a call an let us know your planning on being there and we will make sure you stay warm and have a great time.

T,
Yes, we have towed folks, hauled them up the hill to the top of Ptarmigan pass at 12000 feet or so. Then they ski down. It's very cool to see the top of the world from there. You can see 1000 miles it seems from there.
Then we spend a little time pulling the occasional 4x4 or snow mobile out of the snow. Pack up your ski gear and join us! NO $ needed!

Looks Great Lew
WOW ! Proper snow Lew.....looks great.....we have a superbly turned out unit of 10th Mountain and FSSF re enactment unit here in the UK that i bet would love to come and play in that.
They are the best in their field and really have gone the last "yard" to get their impression right.
It makes a change to know that the war didnt start on Omaha beach and finish at Bastogne
Regards
LLoyd

LLoyd,
You guys should plan on a trip out to next years event. We are trying to hook up with the history channel again. If we had more guys that have the right gear we could really do a great show of it for the camera guys.
For that matter some should come out this year so you know what it's like.
Love to have ya here.

That would be fun as hell. Is this an annual event? If so I'd love to participate next year in 2009.

Pictures of the '08 Operation Blizzard:
As you can see the sun was out most of the time like it has been for the last 5 years. Not a single person got cold. We had a blast! Special thanks to Dan for setting things up and a very big thanks to Huge and Karen for running the mess hall from 5am to midnight! The chow was out standing and never ending!
We rode weasels all over the place for hours on end in very deep snow. If you were not on a packed trail and got out of the weasel you would sink to your waist. Tom threw a track while riding down the rail road tracks on his was back from Red Cliff late at night. With a 12 man crew we had him back on the snow the next morning. Even the mechanical work was fun.
We rode in Dan's BV 206 all the way to the 12,000' plus peak above camp. The view was so great I forgot to get pictures. Top of the world!
If you own a weasel you should come to this event! This is the home of the weasel and a great place to play with them. While up there the National Gaurd was there along with some SF guys doing the same thing! They had their BV 206's going day and night also! I think we ate better though.
If you hesitate to come to Operation Blizzard because it looks too cold give us a call. There are cabins right across the road with a great place to eat right there. But like I said, not a person got cold and the food was top notch.
