Robin has those measurements... he built them for his MZ-2.

If you are talking about the mount you found on ebay, I tried to get it but the other guy was doing anything to get it. We fought until it reached almost $200. He got the last second bid and won. So I still need one.

We have a lot of welding to do, I used an air hammer with a chisel attachment to chip away all the tar crap that lined the bottom. Kept the original paint in nice shape though!

Re: U.S.M.C. MZ-2 Radio Jeep restoration.
My Transmitter came in today, It looks fanastic! Vacume tubes are intact, and eveything is there. The freight company did break the brass door stops , but I suppose I can live with that A few lose screws, dead 60 yr old bateries, and a feild made fuse is all I have to address!
(ORIGINAL PHOTOS LOST)
The original set of radios I purchased were stolen. I recently purchased a new TCS-14 set. Photos will be added as soon as they arrive.

Re: U.S.M.C. MZ-2 Radio Jeep restoration.
That tar was on a lot of MZ-2.
The batteries are a bubba thing as the TCS did not have batteries but used on of several power supplies.
Your TCS-5 is one of the earlier versions. There was some kind of significant change at TCS-8 and there are quite a few TCS-12 used.
You need manuals... at least one and maybe several.
Here are some... you find them on Ebay and some of the old radio and boat anchor (Navy radio) shops.
Manuals:
Instruction Book for Model TCS-5
Electronic Radio - Television Institute - Omaha, Nebraska
Unites States Marine Corps.
Radio Material School
Undated, with drawing dates August 1941 thru early 1942
84 pages
Instruction Book for Model TCS-12
U.S. Navy Department, Bureau of Ships
By Collins Radio Company
Contact Nxsr-LL-36727
Contract Dated 6 Sept. 1943
203 pages
Instruction Book for Notes on Servicing Radio and Sound Equipment
Electronic Radio - Television Institute - Omaha, Nebraska
Unites States Marine Corps.
Radio Material School
Undated
Instruction Book for Model TCS-12
No. 455 1875
Including Addenda
U.S. Navy Department, Bureau of Ships
By Collins Radio Company
Contact Nxsr-LL-36727 thru NXsr-47395
Contract Dated 6 September 1943 thru 18 January 1944
Includes Installation Instructions - TCS Noise Limiter Adapter Unit (NAVSHIPS 900,005-1B) and Addenda No. 1 on the 20309 power unit and 211330 power unit.
Instruction Book for Model TCS-14
U.S. Navy Department, Bureau of Ships
By Air King Products Co., Inc.
Contact Nxsr-38314
Contract Dated Sept. 23, 1943

Re: U.S.M.C. MZ-2 Radio Jeep restoration.
Almost forgot...
Equipment you will/may need to go with the TCS transmitter and receiver. Most of this stuff is in the manuals.
Power Supplies used (there are more):
#1.
COL-211330-A Dynamotor assembly (12/24v)
Collins Radio Company
TCS-12
Contract NXsr-47395
#2
CWS-211035 Dynamotor assembly
Stewart Warner Corporation
TCS-8
Contract Nxss-18844
#3
COL-21881 Dynamotor assembly (12v)
Collins Radio Company
TCS-5
Contract LL-Nxss-0142
#4
COL-20309AC (Rect. Type) power supply (115/230v).
Remote Control Unit.
#1.
COL-23270 Remote Control Unit
Collins Radio Company
Loading Coil
#1.
CML-47205 Antenna Loading Coil
Hamilton Radio Corp.
TCS Noise Limiter Adapter Unit
CUZ-50159
U.S. Television Manufacturing Corp.
Contract NXsr-48301 Contract dated February 1, 1944
Plus cables for the transmitter, receiver and remote, telegraph key, microphones, headsets and other stuff. As in all these type installations, the was a pile of bits and pieces that came with the radio system.
The antenna is a frabricated sheet metal box that contains the loading coil. I know Robin worked up the measurements from mine. I used measurements, diagrams and photos to make the one up on my jeep and others have copied that pattern until an original, if found, can be used for a template. The antenna base used was an MP-37 with antenna sections MS-49 to MS-53 in a BG-56 bag.

Re: U.S.M.C. MZ-2 Radio Jeep restoration.
Man, theres a genny shroud too! Looks like we still have a long way to go. At least we aquired the transmitter and receiver. A friend has an M8 Greyhound 12 volt genny he says may be what I need. So I need to verify that. Right now, we are gonna start taking it slow, as we repait the tub and clean the frame. Thanks for the info Mark.

The 12v generator will look like this:
Note the small pulley, but your 12v one will have a green tag instead of the 24v off white tag like mine.

Hi EJB!
The antenna loading coil that is in this box comes out and installs in the antenna mount on the side of the jeep. The 6 position knob is under that front cover.
One of the instruction manuals/pamplets had a Drawing 121 that shows a section thru the antenna box.
Here is a close up of that detail.
