Re: Flea Market 2014-2017
Fess up, Doc. The only reason you bought it was because it's a "PHIL"co! Seriously, though, in this day and age where does one get such a radio "serviced" or find the vacuum tubes for it? Nice find, though.

Ha! Maybe so Bill. I don't know but the "radio lady" has "a guy" who cleans and repairs all the old radios she finds. Dave it sure does but since its been playing music since the 40's can you imagine all the tunes its played? These old radios have a really cool nostalgic sound.

Re: Flea Market 2014-2017
Today was a good day. I finally sealed the deal on a Snap On chest I've been working on for a couple of weeks, found a FSN stamped Hamilton that I nearly passed over because it was hidden by layers and layers of paint, an unbranded 4" base oiler, 15" Vlchek auto wrench and a few other things. Good to be back at the flea after a few missed weekends.

Those button pattern pliers are cool. We had a pair in the Workpuppies lot, but Tin Medic claimed them before I could! They are WWI to interwar. That same serif font 'US' stamp is found on all kinds of tools in that era. A report to then Secretary Taft dated 1905 recommends three (3) pairs of 10" button pattern pliers be carried by each duty sergeant per infantry company. Link:

Thanks for the info Greg. I had no idea what they were but of course the US stamp caught my eye.

Doc, I'd be interested in the button pattern pliers and the offset screwdriver, if you'd be so inclined.

Luke, I'll get back to you about the pliers soon. The offset screwdriver has already found a home.

Luke PM inbound.
Today I found a really nice and almost complete set of Husky 1/2" drive pieces which also included a NB DLB which based on appearance and finish I believe came with the set originally. There were also some DI sockets. Two punches, an Enderes 1/4" and a Union Tool Co 1/8". A modified mechanics brush, a 1" file handle, BB DBE and some other non-GMTK pieces.

Re: Flea Market 2014-2017
A quick trip to the flea this morning which was short on vendors because of a unexpected rain. I did manage to find 2 really nice pieces though. Most likely a post war Irwin US of A and a wartime era 12" adjustable wrench.

Nice wrench, Phil! I wonder why some wartime Diamond adjustable wrenches have broached hanging holes and others don't? Anybody have any guesses?

They aren't exactly tools but I thought that these two ammo boxes with the ORD bomb might be of interest. I found them at the Tahoe flea yesterday.
