Interesting idea but didn't pan out. What aircraft is the mother ship derived from?

Wonder what the flight characteristics would be like w/o the "pod" attached? Notice the late WWII KD64 ambulance.

Fascinating pics Luis, thank you very much.

I'm still trying to work out the suspension.

The aircraft suspension has, or aught to have
lots of movement left.

The bit underneath has very little ground clearance.
Could that be wht the idea
didn't get off the ground?

The XC-120 Packet was developed from the earlier C-82 Flying Box Car.

I first saw the C-124 at Dow Field in winter of 1951/1952.
Note the clean M-38 without the MWO for rear corner reinforcement.

I used to watch C-82 Packets (Flying Box Cars) being ferried thru Dow Field during the early 50's on the way to Indo China. The end of the runway was just a short distance from our office window, some of the pilots still wore the long visored WWII Pilots Caps and Sun Glasses.
Note the extra stars on the rear of the MB being loaded.
