Re: What an Original Jeep Looks Like
As I was looking at the photographs I noticed a few things that I am hoping someone could clarify about the stenciling.
Does anyone know what the missing letter/number is that is blocked by the hand brake? Any idea what it means?
?2 - IN - FRONT
and the other stencil I believe was under the hood:
HATTEHY
DATE
8 / 26 / 45
What is HATTEHY?
Its a great looking jeep and the photographs really give some detail to originally and appear to be a good reference.
Thanks
Brett

Here are some close ups of the stenciling on the dash and the inside of the windshield.

Re: What an Original Jeep Looks Like
Thank you.
I am guessing "2-in-front" tells the driver that 2 people (including the driver) should be sitting in the front area of the jeep?
Any idea what "HATTEHY" signifies?
Brett

Re: What an Original Jeep Looks Like
BATTERY. That is the date of battery install, to tell how old the battery is.

Brett. I'm with "semberae" -- I think it says "BATTERY."

It says "Battery". This shows that the battery was replaced on 8/20/1945.

We have 5 unrestored/ original Jeeps and 4 restored Jeeps so we do not need any more restored jeeps or anymore projects in that matter. The "new" blackout light is a NOS one we put on after we bought the Jeep as the one that was on it was damaged/broken. Attached is a photo of some of the other Jeeps, not all are in the picture but 4 of the original ones are along with 2 of the restored Jeeps. I will be posting pictures of the other original Jeeps in the weeks to come. Thanks.
Frank...Nice to see Dick Ivory's 42 Navy Jeep in your line up again. Looks good with the OD top. Still have the White one?

Re: What an Original Jeep Looks Like
Hello,
Any chance you could share a photo of the 1 inch webbing strap buckles please? Axe, shovel, top bow stowage, canvas top stowage under seat etc?
Trying to identify the 'evolution' of different buckle types!
Of course, any other photos of your other original jeep's buckles would be most welcome too!
Thanks in anticipation,
Ian.

Re: What an Original Jeep Looks Like
And, the harness that travels with it? (I don't do Facebook) I'm curious to know for sure if the braided shield is retained on the end by tucking it in or with a steel wire pinching it. Also, where does the ring connector go that's on the other end? My question assumes that this part of the harness travels through wire braid and not asphalt loom, it's hard to be sure in the pictures.brad m. wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2017 3:54 amWow that is a great looking original Jeep. can I ask you a favor I am trying to see how the fender wire clip is supposed to retain the wire leading to the black out light. Any chance you can post a close up picture of that area. I have just asked that question on the G503 Facebook page.
Thanks Brad
Great matching numbers find! A treasure trove of near originality!
Thanks for sharing!!!!

Sorry for the delay in responding. Glad you are happy with the Dick's Navy Jeep...it was a very unique restoration. I kinda like it with the OD top! Tell Frank I said Hi. Assume you are off at College now? Good Luck....Gary
