i just find this 1943 jeep with original data plates,fram plate:267831
i fond the original yellow star for gaz on the hood
somebody can help me to find if this car was in the first army in normandy

I can't answer your question about whether this jeep was in Normandy, but I'm assuming you're located in France somewhere? I'm actually going to Normandy in a few weeks on vacation :D It would be awesome if you were able to pin point it back to there, though! Definitely looks like a solid and very complete original MB. Congrats on the find and welcome to the G!

What a cracking find, it seems that finds like this are getting scarce, but they still keep surfacing, which is GREAT. :D

Gas warning paint on the hood star?

Visible on a well-known photo of Jeeps in a landing craft on D-Day. I have never seen another photo showing them.

The gaz painting is characteristic vehicles of the battle of Normandy
My Messenger was rests of this paint arround the white star.

the jeep as a early gpw engine
and i think it was changed in 1945 by the us army
first production in 1943 with the prestone 43 on the hood and i can see another prestone 45 on the hood
i am sorry by my bad english i stay in the center of france

i do not thing sand blasting the car i want to keep it the original paint just make the mechanic to go on omaha beach with an original car

What is the serial number of your block? By my calculations, by 19 Jan 43 you should have a PCV valve.

hi bangle99 the engine is a ford number 33.. so a 42 on the bonnet we can see prestone 43 and another prestone 45 i thing that the engine was changed at this date
do you agree whith that regards Emmanuel

Apparently the 43 paint was better then the 45...
