This is a site I found that has some interesting information on British military paint standards. My original paint is certainly darker than the OD green paint which I am using short-term due to timing and availability. I will do more research on the Bronze Green and will have paint mixed up for the future. I will post what I come up with.

Another site with a color chart that includes deep bronze green. I will compare this to my Jeep this week.

Ray,

Here is a photo of the underside of the hood as requested.

In looking back at photos of Charlie's Jeep in this post his color and application is what I will shoot for when the body gets repaired. When the time comes I will ask if Charlie can help with more detailed photos of some of the markings and also dimensions of the ID plate above the front bumper.

I noticed a stamp on the top of the block at the very front of the engine. Has "BOR" and what appears to be "L343215". The stamping on the side of the block is "B-343840" with two dots stamped where the M would be located (see page 1 for photo). Anyone have information on why these are different?

Took my flywheel to the machine shop to get surfaced in preparation of marrying the engine and T-84. Made some progress assembling the engine, will have photos of that soon. Slow progress, but still moving ahead.

Hello,

You are making rapid work of that engine !!!
Thanks for the hood picture, it looks like a nice shade of olive drab !!
Take a can of wd-40 and spray it down, then rub it clean, it will look absolutely great.
You then can really see what that color looks like.

I don't know what the writing is on your block, likely a British code of some nature.
Hopefully someone from the UK homeland can chime in to report what it stands for,and if it is a REME workshop code ?

I appreciate all your updates, and Spring is on the way for you !
Summer is about here in Florida, it is really nice right now with a good breeze blowing in from the east :D

I hope to get the concrete work done for my jeep barn in the next week or so, then I can start working on the jeep.
I can hardly wait !!

Best Regards,

Ray

Hi , I think 'BOR' stands for British army of the Rhine - (a river) and was stamped on rebuild during military service postwar. Someone else may correct me if this is duff information!

Some engine assembly work this past week.

Belt pulley key was stuck in the crank shaft and had some damage from attempts at removal. Using a tip I saw online I cut a slot in a piece of scrap angle iron just wider than the width of the key. While holding the metal over the key I applied a couple weld beads to bond the key to the angle iron. With some light hammer taps the key came right out. Way easier than any prior attempts at removal.

The engine is mostly assembled. Will install the remaining items once it is back in the Jeep.

Went to put new gaskets sets in the tranny and transfer case and found more metal particles and sludge than I expected. Stripped them both completely down and ordered some replacement items (all bearings, thrust washers, countershaft bushings and shaft) due to wear.

This a photo of the bottom side of the transmission skid plate. It is faint, but there appears to be some kind of stencil in white paint. Any other guys with British Jeeps have this stencil and can share what it says?

Hello,

Wow your engine rebuild looks GREAT !!!!
The jeep should be rolling along again very soon !!

I will see if I can see any writing on my skid plate, or if I even have one :D
Hopefully a British member can add the info on what was stenciled there.

Best Regards,

Ray

Anyone on the G have a set of intake and exhaust manifolds in good condition for an MB that they would be willing to part with? That will be the last piece I need to get this going. Haven't heard great things about the repro items that are on the market. Any experience with the repro parts?
