Re: 1945 Willys #426468
Plenty of info.
Have some paperwork from when it was surplused, family that sold it was originial owners. I'll have to scan and upload it, some interesting reading.
Motor is MB569620. Cast date of 3-5 Hood number is 20693117. Tom Woldboldt or Jum gilmore(sorry, bad with names and faces) looked up hood number and got a build date of March 16, 1945. Hood and motor number are on paperwork. They used motor number to title it, need to see about changing it to frame number.
Missing windshield, glovebox lid is gone, and horn bell is cut off. Rust holes on sides and some in floorboards. Motor was locked up, but I was able to break it free. Pulled head, cylinders have some rust color, but not bad. Need to clean up and adjust valves.
Still has the factory tires and rims, odometer shows 8700 miles. Jeep had been parked in garage since 91. Current plans are to swap M38 top and heater over to my 2A, use 2A windshield on MB. Get it running, go through brakes and bearings, and drive it. Not going to restore it till my 2A is done, and that might be a while!
What do I do about the factory tires? 5 Matching goodyear S3 tires, with about 70 percent tread, and usual dryrot. I'm going to replace them, what do I do with old ones, hate to throw them out.

Nice survivor. Front frame rails, horns and rear cross member look in great condition. Still 6-volt original military set-up. Your heater is a Harrison made for Chevy trucks and cars of the late 40's early 50's. Not the correct one for a CJ-2A which is very similar, but I guess it will work for you in your 2A. Congrats on your purchase.

Nice find. I have MB 430923 28 March 45. It was fairly untouched to. I have the 5 original rims with the correct Goodyears. If you figure out how to get them off without destroying them let me know. I believe my rims still have the bead locks so not going to be easy!

Nice, I have an MB Ser. # 430629, engine Ser. # 576541 and the DOD is 3-28-45, Toe board # is 218983. It was stock, pretty much all there. I believe it came from Quonset Point NAS in RI. Only markings I could find were the remnants of a Seabee on the hood (they had a base there).

Re: 1945 Willys #426468
Plenty of Jeeps close in age I see.
Since it's split runs, tires should come off easy. Whenever I get new tires, I'll blast and paint rims, not sure what paint color it should be.
Got the head off and motor spinning. Wonder if I should pop out pistons and make sure rings aren't stuck.

Re: 1945 Willys #426468
Just a suggestion, You may want to leave the tires on the rims and sell them as complete wheels (each or as a set). Sometimes the tires get destroyed when trying to take them off the rims. It will save you a lot of work also.
