So I got an amazing deal on an original hood and drivers seat. Placed them on just to see the look. The water on the floor board has been drained and the jeep found a new home since we moved our horses. Am now saving for a replacement front floor and once Im able to get that I will disassemble and clean the drive train and frame.

After having another look at it,it look like someone has cut the back off and replaced it with a back of a later model jeep. If you can find a seat where the back is good and the rest is shot cut the back off it and replace where the bad welds are at the back of the base plate.

Cheers Gary

Wow I didn't even notice that. I just saw the lower half and thought it was good ha. Only paid $25 for it so I'm not too upset. It will do for now until I can find the top portion like you mentioned or a different one all together. Thanks for letting me know!

Skipping ahead quite a bit on my project here and made about half of the dummy rounds I need for my 250 round cloth belt. The rest of the wwii dated brass will be clean tomorrow and I will make the rest. Also have the plans and software to build a 1:1 scale 1919.

Well I took the clunker out to a local car show and took third place in the under construction category. Got more motivation after seeing some other restored 503s out there today! Once I cam afford the floor I will pull the tub and work on the frame/drive train. Lots a work ahead for sure.

Started removing sheet metal from the drivers side only to expose more rust, holes and foam. Just thankful Bubba put a coat of primer down first.

Picked up a very original windshield yesterday for 100 bucks. Everything on it is great with no pitting that I noticed but does have surface rust. Put it on my jeep and the passenger side latch does not line up. The drivers side does though. Any thoughts on how I can fix this and what I need to check? Could it be the windshield to cowl seal? It has no play left in it at all.

Wow simply surprised doesn't begin to explain what I found. Wedged up above the glove box door on the inside of the dash I found this. Amazing right?!

Too good to be true. Simple Google search shows the dog tag sold on eBay. PO must have purchased it and placed it there. Bummer.

I have been saving over the pst fee months to purchase a front floor replacement for my tub. Well yesterday i came accross a whole tub in beautiful shape for less than i would have paid for the floor alone. I am very excited to save many long hours removing sheet metal and repairing a lot of rust on my current tub with the replacement. He also threw in a rear seat frame. It is missing the bottom pan and the tube that runs along the bottom. Does anybody have the dimensions for this tube? Also a source to get the lower pan? I looked on RFJP but could not find one. Thanks guys.

Is the newly found tub a ACM1 or an ACM2 I can't tell from the top side photos but there are plenty that will spot the difference a mile off. Main difference is the toe board gussets and the top hats chanels on the underside. Shame to loose the original "matched" numbered tub but that is a pretty straight looking replacement - good find.
In my restoration I too seen the opportunity to get it back on the road quicker and purchased a Hotchkiss tub for my 44mb with the intention of mounting it and saving myself time. In the end I opted to fix the original as the hotchkiss had a double skinned floor when I got it  your new find too may still require some work in some areas but it has to come down to $$ and time and the new find will save you both I'd start by getting it blasted and primed see what you have and see better what bits might need attention.

You could always do as I intended, fix the original at your leisure after the jeep is on the road again running with its non original tub.
That said your original is not beyond fixing and knowing where jeeps rust you have probably exposed the areas that are likely to be the worst. If you do decide to stick with the new tub please don't scrap the original there are those on here that would be glad to re-use sections of the old tub maybe save another from the scrap heap in the process.
Just another UK jeep lover

My intention is to do just what you had mentioned at the end of your comment. Get this tub on so I can enjoy my jeep a lot sooner and restore my original one as I can. Best of both worlds!

Haven't posted in a while. Finally got my tub off. The frame doesn't look to be in horrible shape. I have a lot of work ahead of me but I'm looking forward to it. Looks like the PO cut a hole in the bell housing. Any ideas there?
