Now my next job is not to replace the tub I have a plan to treat the metal with rust inhibitor and use a 2 part metal glue is really works well because if I go to far,the outside that part will not have the age look and rust that patina! I want to keep.

And no wonder I couldn't get it to run I discovered hand full of dirt rust after all that, in with a new fuel tank

There is a limit on the photo size on G503 George - 256KB

You can open a free PhotoBucket account and upload large images to that - then post an image link here.
Or you can find some software to resize images.

I don't mind resizing/uploading them for you if you want to send them to me.

Cheers,

Congratulations George! Very nice jeep. Must have cost a fortune to ship from Texas?

This is true passion has no cost' and yes it cost around the $5,900 US to ship it to Australia every man woman and dog wanted a slice to ship it here! and after it landed it had to go through quarantine and somewhere along the way people decided to remove parts like dash gauges, generator, rear lights, hand crank, keys' very disappointing to know that the scum bags have no spine
a word of advice if its not welded down it will most likely go missing and now I am fighting to replace all that on EBay for original parts NOT CHEAP! could have been worse much worse' never mind I am very happy and enjoying preservation work that I am doing on the Jeep very happy :)

George, about 4 years ago I imported a jeep from US to Melbourne and the transport was $3700. It was in a container and nothing was touched. Did you or the shipper have insurance? As you know, the replacement cost for your pilfered items will be heaps.

No I did not take out insurance and the shipping Co. fobbed me of and the seller said that the parts were in the jeep when it left his sight?
and that cost was everything not only the container

Anyway here is the before and after I restored the fuel tub'

The reason being is that if replaced the fuel tub with a new one that would have been much easier' it would stick out like no tomorrow the plan is to preserve' and looks like what I am seeing compared to some of the jeeps I have seen this one doesn't have that much rust fibber- glassing the tub worked a treat!
yes yes I know all you out there are thinking yuk!! patch work but how else could I keep that original out side look of the tub, you tell me no dig deal for me and when in time the new owner can repair it as he wishes strip sandblast it to death red paint OD, nice and shiny
