Great work Frank, looking very nice. Did you source your bond strap set from the Long Olive Drab Line? If so, what are your thoughts on the quality and accuracy please?
I've bought things from Paolo before but you have to be real patient! The parts I've had so far have been excellent.

Cheers,

Thanks a lot guys!

The parts are indeed coming from Paolo.
Wonderfull quality! Really looking good, and indeed patience is your best friend.

When I count price of the bond strap set, including shipping and vat. its a little bit expensiver as bought here locally.
So after all for the quality, no problems with that.

I indeed have to replace the spark plug connectors.
But where I bought these, this was the set I got, so rest I have to do myself.
But for now....I keep these on, and will replace them after everything is running.

I also checked the restoration posts of you guys.
Really am still missing topics on this forum, and others which are doing a restoration are an inspiration for me!!!
so THANKS FOR THAT!!!!

Kind regards
Frank

Thanks guys, good to hear they're quality items. I see Paolo is offering an early and a late bond strap kit. Does anyone know the switch over date for MB and GPW please?

Cheers,

Anyone had this before, and knows what it may be?
Tried to drystart my engine today, but it seems there is a problem between the bendix and the flywheel.
It seems that the tooth of the bendix are running along the side of the flywheel.

THanks for any ideas.

You need a new ring gear, maybe a new bushing for the starter and take a look at the starter to see if the teeth on it are OK. I did not go over all your posts, did you replace the clutch pressure plate... or surface the flywheel?

Stupid as I am...I didn't double check the nr of teeth on the ring gear.
Seems this is a larger one.

I have 1 which should fit, so work to do this weekend.

Latest update.

I have to replace the waterpump (for the 2nd time) as this is leaking over the axle.

Image

Started also on the windshield.
I got a repro one, as the steelwork was totally rusted away.
Anyway due to the poor poor poor quality I ended up by using the frame, and transferred all the hardware.

Guys,

I was able to buy a Motometer speedometer.
Below you can find the pictures of it.
First thing I noticed when I opened the shipping box was that the odometer was not in position.
I decided to take off the cover for inspection.
It seems the speedometer is complete.
When turning the needle is moving so it's loose.

I checked the TM9 from Jeepdraw, but I cannot figure out how it exactly fits.

EDIT:
Problem found, odometer was mounted upside down.
enjoy picutres.

Thanks
Frank

Ok, did some more work on the speedo, and I have to change my question a little bit.

Does somebody have the right decals available for the tripmeter?
Below pictures.

I found some files with this type, but I cannot find them any more.
Main difference with a lot of other types are the 1 and the 7 numbers.

Thanks for info.

Regards
Frank
