THANKS!

That was the post I was looking for.
Seems the numbers on this page are most reflecting the tripmeter numbers from the Motometer: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=247961&start=60

Downloaded the files, now going to a friend who can help me with printing.

Kind regards

FJ,

Your work is outstanding, excellent thread. Did you originally buy from a dealer?

Steve

Thanks Steve.
Yes it was from a dealer...no I'm not 100% happy, but so be it.
In the end I have a lot of work on it, but also am learning a lot of it.

Last update is that last week I removed the oil pump, as it was always on max pressure.
Now it seemed that the max oil pressure valve was stuck.
I had a second pump, and had some trouble with getting it started again.
Saturday it fired up again, so now finalizing works to get started on the tub.

Nice work Frank, looking great. Where did you get the battery hold down J-Bolts please - was it Paolo? Are you happy with them and the hold down frame?
Need some myself.

Cheers,

Dave I really have no clue any more where the J-bolts are coming from....
Too long time ago already.

Did some works on the Willys last weeks.

the Hood is prepared for sandblasting.
I replace the upper hinge of the outer windscreen, and I will replace the sheet metal.

Also made another purchase.
A split passenger seat. The sheet metal of it needs to be replace, and its a little bit twisted, but for the rest its really solid.

Small update

New sheet metal on the outer windscreen.
Im not satisfied with the quality and accuracy of the replacements.
Their absolutaly not accoring the original, but Ill have to work with it, as making these items myself is currently not possible.

For everybody I promised it to.
Herewith some pictures of my original body.

Body nr.

As this is currently far beyond my "willing" to restore point, I'm going to search for a replacement tub.
Most probably it will be a repro from France or from Asia.

When anybody needs some pictures of anything, please let me know so I can take them for you.

Still only small progress.
Cleaning parts, and preparing everything for if I ever have a new body.

Can somebody inform me where to get only the steel fuse plate of the circuit breaker?
I found 2x Klixon 8A circuit breakers. Of which 1 has a broken steel fuse plate...

Looking for the steel insert only!

I checked my post here, and in September 2015 I brought my old body home.
It was original to the Willys and body number and data plate were matching.

After a good investigation, as I found absolutely no straight steelwork, I decided to buy a new body and rebuild it to my wishes.
I'm now so far done that I started painting so finaly some progress.

The body was bought from a vendor in the Netherlands, selling the MD Juan bodies of which I have a 2015 model.
I was both shocked and very happy with the delivered quality.
As I have a March 1942 Willys I changed some things to get it more to what it should be as that it was when bought new.

- Removed the installed glove box, and welded in the one from the original
- Closed all holes that were not correct
- drilled all holes (those are a lot!)
- cut out parts of the firewall, and welded in new (connection studs for the filterette)
- Changed out the welded tank strap bracket on the body floor for the original (those are so different repro vs. original)
- Welded in the side reinforcement on the driver side from floor to top rails
- Modified the fuel tank well, the reinforcement profile bended to early causing a clash with the tank
- Removed the installed glove box door, and installed the original (those 2 are absolutely not matching)
- Removed captive nuts on the positioned where a bolt-nut connection was required.

Off course there are also positive thing, and negative, anyway, restoring my original body would have taken a long long time and if I could have kept 10% original I would have be very happy.

From another vendor I bought a early seat frame for my seat.
I seemed that the openings were manufactured too much to the center of the seat plate.
I cut out that part and rewelded for fitment.

Below all the pictures.
Regards
Frank

Started with outfitting the dash.

Firewall seen from the engine side.
I forgot to install the firewall padding, so all cables are again removed...

Got most of the bodywork done and the main wiring harness etc in.

Had to do some mod's on the wiring harness, but all in now and seems to be working correctly.

Frank it is outstanding work.Great to see another 1/4 ton returned to its youthful appearance.Did you ever find the circuit breaker part you needed awhile back? I ran across some recently. We are still at (about the same) restorative point...
Well done-
Ralph
