Two piece battery trays
This came up as part of a different thread. I'll give it its own since it is sort of buried there.
Question is this;
How many early GPWs can we identify as having the early "Slat grill" type 2 piece battery tray?
Please include your truck SN and DoD if known. Thanks.

GPW battery tray types
Hi Joel,
I have now added a Battery Tray Type column to my GPW database. GPW 166 was assembled in the last week of Feb. 42 so there are about 1600 GPWs that were assembled before it was.
With GPW 4 having the 2 piece tray I believe it adds to my theory of it being an early assembled but late accepted GPW. Possibly being used as an in-factory training aid for teaching new assembly line workers how a GPW was to look.
