I am pretty sure I have 1999 in my shed. I remember that the motor number and the frame number matched the number on the glove box. It has a bunch of stuff piled on it and has for years. It has some of the original Ford tires as I recall.
I have the original keys as well. I should try to take some pictures.
My original USA number is
s 2055470
and is still visible.

Post by Tom Wolboldt » Wed May 16, 2007 6:49 pm

Hello Johan,

From my GPW studies hood number 2055470 should have come from the Dearborn, Mi. assembly plant in mid Feb. 42.

It says 1999. Easier to read the other side of the hood for USA # but harder to photograph. If it was not snake season.....
Here is a try at some (pretty poor) photos.

Someday I will get it out and try to get it to run again.

Add GPW 6629, DOD 3-20-42 (original plates), on Willys frame, to your list.

Hello Michael

I have noticed that my GPW DoD 4-2-42 Registration# 2066837 isent
that much off than yours, but 12078 is very far off from the seral
number of your 4880.
12078 was made in Dallas, was yours also made there or a diffrent
plant
