I've got GPW6008, only 80 before yours and I've got a long needle in mine. Would you like me to get photos? I believe it is VEP.

The "65 MPH" faces used by King Seeley I believe showed up on both EARLY and LATE war jeeps. I seem to remember Tom W. had some info on them also...

KS being OK for GPWs for most of the war and also for MBs later in WWII and those would be the counterbalanced style.

Hello
Sure 6008 is a vep
if you could pass a dash board pic showing the gauges and speedo that would be great
you should also have the AC air cleaner since change to oakes after VIN 8000

Hi Jean,

It's the speedo that I was referring to, I'm not sure if it's original or not so not sure if it's VEP. I'll take some photos and post up on the forum. They are all out of the jeep at the moment while I repair the tub.

VEP K-S would be a long needle as would the Stewart Warner from that era.

The short needle KS 40363 BN would most likely be appropriate for MB's and GPW's delivered late in 1944 until the end of production. If your speedometer hasn't been messed with too much then you still might see the date on the rear of the housing. My Oct '44 MB had a Sept 20, 1944 dated KS 40363BN installed.

Your VEP GPW should most likely have the long needle Stewart Warner 403261 speedometer.
