Hello

Can some one inform me if there is still a history to find for frame number gpw17327 please also have a look at the number I have doubts if the 3 is really a 3 and should not be a 5..any thoughts ?

No opinion on the 3 vs 5 issue but a GPW Frame Number does not use a number "ONE", it uses a capital "I" which is a serif font meaning it has a top and bottom which the first digit in your number does not have...I think it is a number NINE.

Here is a frame stamping from a 3/43 GPW which, at that point in time was in the low 100,000 range and the first digit has "feet" on it and it is a ONE:

Your first digit has no "feet" on the bottom of it and looks to me to be a NINE.

Oh yeah...here is another you can plainly see what a ONE looks like:

It looks like GPW-97527. The first digit is a "9". This GPW would have been a Feb 1943. This makes your GPW frame a mid series production and not a VEP GPW. My first GPW is a mid series production so I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for these. It's good to learn of another one out there!

Here is a shot of my GPW 60019. You can see the difference between the 1 and the 9. The 9 is a little slanted and the 1 is vertical.
