SCRIPT GPW ID?
Looking for some possible ID of this Jeep. It was the one a close family friend drove all through the war. You can see it was named "Lois," after his girlfriend at the time. I can tell its a 42 Ford Script, but I really am hoping someone can make out the hood number for me, and maybe a possible D.o.D based on the features??? Maybe a long shot but why not try it?

the windshield latch nearest the camera in the 3rd photo is stamped. The other one APPEARS bronze. That's all I can determine. Can you scan the first image at greater DPI and repost? that might give enough detail to pull the number.

I can try to this evening. They were pretty low quality photos to begin with, the guys taking them must have been shakylt.luke wrote:the windshield latch nearest the camera in the 3rd photo is stamped. Re: SCRIPT GPW ID?
I think you can narrow the hunt down further...
No trailer socket (added on the MB in July 1942, a tad later on the GPW perhaps)
No gas can support (added on the MB in Aug 1942)
as per Nabholtz....
That limits the range of GPW USA number possibilites a bit.
