Need body number for GPW 222421 restoration

Post by Dawgman » Mon Oct 05, 2015 3:45 pm

Gpw 222421 is slowly being resurrected but the original body was toast. I have 2 acm type 2 bodies, 89497 and 166461 as replacements. What is the proper body gussett number a sept 44 gpw should have? Which tub is closer and more accurate? One came from a mid 44 mb and the other from a feb 45 gpw. And did a sept 44 gpw have the firewall mounted fuel filter?
Any comments are greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Matt

Hi Matt,

Pretty easy really.. an ACM body type 2 for a GPW doesn't have a body number..... ACM bodies only numbered for WO production.

The tub with 89497 would be closer to what you need and put plenty of paint over the number so the jeep police don't crap on you from a great height

Just as an aside... why is this in the VEP Ford GPW board??

ACM2 bodies on late GPWs do have a number on the driver side gussett.

Mine is 155xxx on GPW frame 238xxx, dod 12-5-44, should be the factory fitted one according to Tom W.
Mine still has the fuel filter on firewall, but no hole for the depression wiper line.
