Hi Mick,

Yep she's classed as a VEP GPW. I`ll let you fill Paul in.

I got your email about her and the manual through the website- thanks for the heads up.

I`ve got a few questions i am hoping you can help with regarding 11486, so i`ll send you an email with them in it.

Cheers,
Ian.

Hi Tom,

Gosh, how did you get all that info ?

It wasn't from the often herd Queensland Vehicle register that someone seems to have is it ? How did you get it all the way in Ohio ?

Regards

Hello Paul,

Most of the above data came from the great researching done by John Wilson and Ian Fawbert along with postings from G503.

Hi Mike,

GPW motor # 3506 should have been assembled about Feb. 27, 42 according to Ford GPW motor data.

Hood number 2067692 should have been a Chester, Pa. number with a DOD of either March 6 or 7, 42 according to Ford daily GPW plant production records.

From my GPW studies all of these numbers look to be in the correct ranges.

A pox upon me for a fool :!: I questioned the MASTER

Really Tom,
Thanks for the phone call. I kinda thought it would be based upon Ford having 5 plants and the registration skew. IT was great, as always, talking to you. And as I said, you have a place to hang your hat here anytime :!:

Jay;

My GPW is 14944, very close to yours, DOD is 4-10-42, also numbers matching, but the engine is a replacement, 14944, not GPW 14944. I'm told the lack of the GPW in front of the engine number is cause to believe it was replaced. Nice to hear of a number so close.

GPW Chassis *10915

Post by ASHO77 » Mon Jul 04, 2016 1:32 pm

G'day Tom, I've just bought the GPW chassis *10915 and I see your post notes the same numbered engine was in a GPW in Queensland, where I am. I'm guessing it possibly was in the Jeep I have now? Apparently the body was either sold off or went to scrap, I'm still trying to figure that out from the seller. Is there a way I can track the history of my Jeep and possibly find the engine if it's still in a members (G503 members) Jeep? I'd like to know if my Jeep was sent straight to the Australian Army or if it was a US Army one first...where can I find out? Thanks mate, G
