That's not the only reason. ALL those wires.... Ggaahhhhh!

Gauges are out in Arkansas, so that's working too. I promise Bob, I'm making progress...

But I also have a business starting with the wife, and that takes up loads of time.

After we get mine running and the tin finished, I will have to make a road trip down and wire that "biznitch with you. :D

And between the boys and Zane Mohler helping me out, we've gotten a LOT of work done.

And today I had a very special visitor... If you scroll up to the top of the thread, I think that was the last time Bob May had seen his old 12078. I was pleased with the progress and looks forward to seeing it on the road... he says... soon please.

It will be done pretty soon. Then we've gotta figure out how to get together again.

It is really coming together after all these years. I know you have to be very gratified. Your jeep looks terrific.

I have to let the cat out of the bag somewhere, and I've chosen here. I promised the Foreign Exchange Student I had 2 years ago that I would take her for a ride in my jeep before she left. Due to work, my family's small business starting up at that time, Army School (ILE/CGSC for those of you who understand the lingo), and her presence, that didn't happen. In fact, woefully little was done with the jeep while she was here. Something has to be bottom priority...

Well, she is coming back for a week or so to visit us. She's not doing anything else, just spending time with us. I was looking at the jeep the other day and realized, while I can't get it finished, I can probably make it drivable...so I enlisted a little help. For the first time since we moved to the house we live in now, GPW12078 is NOT at home. I am working on her in a location close to home where several like minded individuals will have availibility to put hands and tools on her so as to make it drivable for a young lady traveling a long way for a visit...wish us luck!

We've been known to take a short test drive without any license plate/registration, no lights and even with little/no brakes sometimes. Out in nowhere though so no big deal and no traffic. It's those guys taking their jeep around the block without a tub on it, just an orange crate for a seat and a milk jug for a gas can that are a bit risky.

I suppose you COULD just borrow someone's jeep for the time your exchange student is visiting...

Luke...the jeep is in the home stretch and I know you've been pretty anal retentive in terms of originality on that one and I can't wait for you to finish and get the old gal on the road this summer.....4th of July Parade and Veterans Day Parade are just around the corner...

However...a reminder....TAKE MORE PICTURES OF THE ASSEMBLY PROCESS!

I've already driven the frame to my neighbor's house and through my yard. without a seat and the throttle set to high idle. it was a cool experience!

I don't think anyone around here is going to mind a "maintenance run" up and down the road, and they probably wouldn't laugh too hard if I walk back!

Thank you for the encouragement. I wish I had a helper or more hands to take pictures. I know I'll regret it. But partly I blame technology, back when I was better about photos, I had a computer crash and lost LOTs of photos. Didn't really care much after that.

Still haven't looked at the windshield at all, and I still have to do extensive repair to a back seat I picked up. That'll likely turn into a hand built pan, or at least part of one.

At best, she'll get a ride in something with 2 fenders, a grille and no hood. At worst, a tub with an open engine, but I'm ALMOST ready...
