TOWER PARK SPRING MEET APRIL 2017 "CAMP PETALUMA"

PLEASE READ THIS: MVCC APRIL 2017 meet

The Tower Park campground has been purchased by the Yogi Bear Jellystone Campgrounds and they have major changes scheduled for the park. They are planning to turn the campground into a major resort destination and these changes include paving, upgrading power hookups and re-configuring some sites into upgraded pull throughs among other things. Because they don't have an exact timeline for all of the upgrades they have planned they have told us that they don't feel that they will be able to accommodate the MVCC in April of 2017.

The MVCC board has been actively searching the northern California area for another suitable site and has chosen the KOA campground in Petaluma for the April 2017 meet. We are in the process of talking to the park to determine exactly what dates will be available and what we can expect for camping rates. The park has room for us to grow and we may eventually utilize the entire park but right now we are only getting a section of it and will have to change the way we have done things in the past to make it all work. Eventually we feel we will be able to get everyone back into the fold but based on what we know right now we have made the following decisions. We know that this will not please everyone but we need to do this to make the event successful and to allow future growth.

1) This is an MVCC meet and you MUST be an MVCC member to camp in the campground. Visitors will still be welcomed on a daily basis.
2) There will be a 4 night minimum stay requirement to maximize mutual utilization of the park. This will be Wednesday thru Saturday. You will still be able to come in early in the week if you choose to.
3) Only people who stay onsite will be allowed to make reservations this coming year. For those of you who stay in hotels there will be space available to park and vend from but campsites need to be occupied by campers.
4) JoAnn will still act as our Wagon Master and all reservations will be made and tracked by her. She will be the clubs only interface with the park and they have asked us to abide by this. JoAnn will be setting up a special email address specifically for this event and we will publish that address at http://www.mvccnews.net.. PLEASE, do not contact the park or go online to make reservations. We will do our very best to accommodate everyone who currently holds a reservation at Tower Park again giving preference to MVCC members.

Petaluma and the North Coast offer us many things that we have been lacking at Tower Park. The area is rich in activities around the park and is covered with roads that we can wander on without going 60 MPH. Dillon Beach, Petaluma, Santa Rosa, Point Reyes, and Bodega Bay are all short hops away. Petaluma is a veteran friendly town that hosts the largest Veterans Day Parade in the State. This is a beautiful area and we believe that it holds a great future for the MVCC. Let's all work together to make this work.

West Coast MV Swap Meet & Gathering, Replacing Tower Park
post by John Neuenburg » Mon Dec 26, 2016 11:23 am

As MVCC newsletter readers and others who check out this forum know, the 2017 Spring meet will be at the KOA campground in Petaluma, CA with official dates April 18-23, 2017. An event announcement with details, a facility map, and a few photos of the place is over on the EVENTS forum. We won't duplicate the details here. There is also info up on http://www.MVCCNews.net including an interactive map so you can see who is penciled-in for every site.

For campsite and cabin requests and activities-related questions or suggestions, go directly to the people listed, or you can write posts in that thread.

AFTER YOU TALK TO JO-ANN AND SHE ASSIGNS YOU A SITE OR CABIN, CONTACT KOA ASAP TO PUT A DEPOSIT ON IT OR RISK LOSING IT! This is like any hotel or KOA campground.

The Fall Camp Delta swap meet is still scheduled for the third week of September at Tower Park. Unlike before, this meet is planned for Campgrounds 2, 3, plus 1 which is the one below the boating businesses formerly used for long term RV/trailer camping. The owner is adding cabins and we don't yet know what the new layout is, so specific reservations are not possible yet. Watch our newsletter or http://www.MVCCNews.net.
