Okay...seems pretty slow with you prototypers...so...let’s sharpen our field ID skills...My guess is a movie car. It’s an old photo, so, not something Duncan R or Robin B cooked up...who was making BRC replicas back in the day? Let’s list the anomalies...in fact, is there anything on this rig that might be from a real BRC? Maybe that would be the way to go..find one ting that IS original BRC! Do the USA numbers make any sense?

Okay I'll start with the straight front axle and the four lug rims...

Excellent...The bumperettes could be real, but even the “eyebrows” look mis shapen?

Laurel and Hardy movie prop- Great Guns. It was made just for the movie, nothing the Army had.

I concur with Joel, looks like the 'Bantam' from Great Guns'. Just think, the movie guys were making copies of prototypes in movies of the early 40's...before standard jeeps took over. You'd think the more modern high budget war movies could get it right...i.e. Tora, Tora, Tora; Midway; Pearl Harbor, etc.

Don’t think it was Great Guns...here’s a screen shot (sorry it won’t let me post a decent size here) of that one, made I believe by Troutman and BArnes in LA, I think out of a Model A Ford...quite a bit different...it doesn’t really look like any of the prototypes...

Missed the end of the sentence...check the different treatment on the hood numbers, this one has directional tires

Im sure it was repainted for different movies. tires could have been changed too.
But if you see the jeep from the back during the scene. it looks identical.

Try a search for Laurel & Hardy Jeep or Laurel & Hardy Great Guns, I believe you will find the answer.

Finally did a web search, what I posted is wrong. The vehicle is not the Great Guns Jeep.

Re: Who’s got a clue what this is? Contest.
You guys who are experts in the USA numbers should weigh in...seems to me like a lot of these early jeep movie cars were using the old larger white numbers you might find on an earlier half ton pick up say... not the smaller blue numbers with “W-“ I doubt the art directors of the day were G503 types...they simply put some “army numbers” on this new Jeep vehicle thing....
Still have ‘t Heard much about the anomalies...where they failed in making a Bantam...wrong pedals, dash instruments, steering wheel, taillights...missing the two strips on the back of the tub and the edge treatment...has some kind of bracing on the front fenders? What else?
I wonder if the corrugated garage doors are any hint?..anyone familiar with the studio lots or Troutman and Barnes facilities?...somehow it doesn’t seem quite late thirties when a movie cAr using a prototype as a reference would have been built...but of course the picture could have been taken much later, as a curiosity? OR maybe someone is finally going to do the movie of WARBABY AND THIS IS A CONTEMPORARY PHOTO!

I checked Bantam USA Reg, none were 5 Digit, neither was MA or GP. That Reg should show up in the 1930's, tho.

The front seems to have too many curves for wood, but the back looks like one of those experimental plywood jeeps.
