BRC Series-2 photo

Post by George Hollins » Sun May 21, 2017 8:21 am

Rare photo of a BRC Series-2 with hood number W-2030501. This was one of the 22 + 1,000 built in October-November 1941 that had 2030xxx hood numbers (See BRC list).

Look closely and you can see the marker lights are the BRC Series-2 type, same as GP Series-2, MA, and MB.

BRC Series-1 (Mar-Jun 1941)
BRC Series-2 (Oct-Nov 1941)

Based on my research, serial number 2621 was one of 12 Series-2 BRC built in October 1941 to complete the 1,500-unit contract 8886. The original hood number for BRC2621 was between W-2017258 to W-2017269. BRC2621 has the Series-2 design features and is one of 3 known to still exist from the 12 balance due cars (survivors 2619, 2621, 2622 - see BRC list).

Great photo George. Thirteen hood numbers off mine. I know Jim and I and you have talked about my outside tips on the fender supports having the dog leg bends on the outer tips. In the photo It looks like the near side fender support might also have the bend. What do you think? Sean.
