GP hood rubber pad
Hope someone can help
part, # GP 1103492 pad windshield folding bumper-on hood. rubber pad for resting windshield in down position, on my ist series GP the pad appears to be approximately 3/4" high and on my 2nd series GP it is approximately 1 1/4" high. is this correct? both parts are 'original' ie very old. I am going to mould up some new ones but wanted to be sure I was making the right one.
Thanks in advance
Michael

windshield pad
Michael,
What is the date on your jeep.
Ron @ this site has both rubber and wood hood blocks I believe.
I would ask him.l
I think the 3/4" high would be about that wide also where as the other one would be about as wide as it is high?
Researching which is correct for my 6-24-42 GPW myself !
let me know what you find please, I will do the same.

Hamo,
I think you miss-read the post, I am talking about 1941 GP hood pads, not GPW, and as near as I can tell they are all made of rubber.

GP HOOD BLOCKS
Yes, GP hood blocks are different than the early and standardized jeeps. I picked up a nice set of GP hood blocks a couple of years ago from Mr. Ken Hake. We all know the fine quality of Hake restorations. I really do not think he has any remaining.
The best description I can give is that they appear are a bit more rounded on the edges, they are molded in a greenish rubber, and might be a very little bit larger than MB/GPW.
I had a slat grill with original rubber and they were black rubber and very much like the standarized jeep.
If I were to make do until I could get a set of better GP hood blocks, I would consider the early black rubber ones.
Best of luck with your project.
