Using 24V gauges in a 12 volt system?

Post by wardo74 » Sun Nov 25, 2012 12:32 pm

So I would like to use original gauges in restoring my '52 M38A1, but I don't want the cost of a new 24 Volt starter, generator/alternator, 2 -12 volt batteries, etc. Besides, how do you jump start 24V Jeeps in a 12 Volt world? Has anyone ever done this? what gauge wire did you use? I thought I read someone doing this and the only problem was the fuel gauge only works from full to 1/2 (i.e. 1/2 = empty)

Thoughts?
