USMC "Holden" Ambulance Jeep "Discovered"!
Fellow G members,
First, let me say thank you for all the information and camaraderie that you have shown to fellow members on their vehicles. It is a great asset to be able to post and discuss problem solving and solutions for our O.D. fever addictions.
Secondly, without such enthusiasm and knowledge sharing, I would not know that I have a USMC "Holden" jeep. When I bought the jeep, it had aluminum diamond plate on the sides and back of the jeep. After removing the plate, I saw some modifications, a small door cut into the back of the tub, some notches in the top of the tub, and the passenger side entrance was modified too. I had thought that Bubba had done these mods and was about to get the tub reskinned when I saw a post on the Facebook G503 about the Holden jeeps.
There was a pic of the back of the Holden, showing the small door. I thought that it looked familiar and similar to mine. After reading more, I posted a pic. Andy Lang was one of the members who replied to my post and asked for more pics and explained what the Holden mods were and what to look for. Sure enough, I have a USMC ambulance jeep!
Now I want to bring it back as a Holden, so I will need the help of the G members. I will need a spare tire mount for the hood, the brackets, bows, and tie downs for the stretcher and top, a plasma box. I saw where another member a few years back restored one. If anyone can help, please contact me.
Thanks again for the friendship, knowledge and help with our military vehicle veterans!

To all,
The name Holden is not correct for this jeep. Holden did not make the conversion for this jeep. Holden conversions(approx. 200) were loaded on transport planes and shipped to New Guinea to be used by the Army.
Recent information has surfaced that the USMC ambulance jeep was designed here in the states according to uncovered Navy documents that was shown sometime ago. Unfortunately, I cannot find the link to this on my new computer and my old computer has been recycled.

ps: more research is being done by the National Museum of the Marine Corps personnel which is where my restored USMC ambulance jeep now resides.
