Great photo Farrell.

If you get a chance, get a closeup of the data plate please.

I have 2 of these original regulators and they appear to have been the USMC marine corps lusterless forest green. They may have been repainted at some point but there definately not that black krinkle paint like the WW2 regulators.

Mike, thanks for your reply. We also have 2 or 3 of the original voltage regulators and they are the USMC green with no evidence of the black crinkle paint. Also spoke to Harold West and he confirmed that the green was the correct color.

From the research i have done. The Starter, Generator, Distributor, Radiator, Battery Hold downs, frame, shocks, engine, trans, T-case, PTO, Driveshafts, Springs and Axles should all be low sheen black not flat black but less than gloss. The voltage regulators as previously discussed should be green as should the horn and mounting bracket. I have personally inspected 10 V35's in various conditions and have not been able to determine a clear pattern on the front of the chassis but it appears that the front frame horns from the cross member forward would have been the lusterless forest green like the body. My theory is that they took black CJ3A chassis off the line and simply dusted the front of the frame and front bumper to match the body color. I am not sure on the rear x-member but for now i am leaving mine black with all the bolted on stuff back there green, Pintle, Bumperettes, Lifting Rings, Trailer Plug, Tail light body all green. I believe the earlier WW2 color is closer to correct than the later Korean war version. I painted my first one the Korean war color, but after inspecting areas under data plates and other unmolested areas i think the WW2 color is closer to what it left the factory with. They of course could have been painted at the unit so that is your preference. I have not been able to inspect a 100% unmolested original and doubt that one exists. My current restoration will have the front frame horns forward of the cross member green. Shoot me an email offline if you want to collaborate any further on this. h8pvmnt@hotmail.com I am also in the process of getting the radio remote control unit housing that goes under the dash on the passenger side copied from an original. These will not be inexpensive and i will not be making any more of them than the confirmed orders i have. The Remote will not include the speaker, wiring, moisture sensor, switches etc. Only the housing. I do have a few Antenna mast brackets available if interested.
