La photo de la Jeep GPW radio MZ-2 a été prise en France devant la gare de Grenoble dans le département de l'isère en 1944.C'est dans la montagne près des Alpes.
Cette photo est sur un forum G503.com. Je n'ai pas les références mais elle doit être facile à trouver.

This thread is being revived to post some additional information about Ford 12 volt GPW jeeps that I just came across while going through old papers. The info comes from a post by Jim Gilmore on G503.com dated February 11, 2002. Here is Jim's 19 year old post in its entirety:
"I was looking over some posts on this site and found several concerning 12 volt GPWs. One by Mark spoke of a cowl mounted battery box. This rang a bell and I did a little digging in my files.
"There were GPWs built with complete 12 volt electrical systems.
"These were different from the USMC/NAVY MZ type radio jeeps.
"Ford converted 14 GPWs for the Government in May, 1943 under a contract classified "Restricted". These GPWs used a 12 volt, 55 amp. Model GDJ 4804-A generator mounted on the motor in the normal position. They had two 2-H batteries, one mounted in the cowl and the other between the front seats. The ignition, coil, lights and all other electrical accessories were 12 volts.
"If you ever find one of these jeeps treat it with respect.....They were used to guard our most important asset during WW II. The President of the United States.
"These GPWs were used by the USMC White House guards and were shipped directly from Dearborn, Michigan (Ford Rouge Plant) to the White House.

Here is a photo of a very similar 12 volt GPW taken at Camp Hood, Texas, on June 3, 1943:
I cannot tell if the 12 volt, 55 ampere generator is an Autolite model GDJ-4804-A as mentioned by Jim or if it is a Ford GPA 12 volt generator (is that a rectangular Ford 12 volt generator data plate on the generator directly beneath the oil filter?), but with the GPAs being discontinued it only makes sense to install an Autolite generator that continued to be used and serviced into the 1950s. The two batteries are located as Jim describes, one in the cowl and the other between the seats. But the U.S.A. registration number 20369282 indicates this is not one of the USMC 12 volt GPWs sent to the White House.
There is an inconsistency in the number of 12 volt GPWs converted by Ford in mid-1943. Jim states above in 2002 that Ford converted 14 GPWs for the USMC to use at the White House. But the Ordnance Department Summary of Acceptances 1940-1945 (posted earlier in this thread within my post dated Feb. 27, 2016) shows only 9 GPW jeeps not sent to the Navy Dept. or to the Army; those might be the 12 volt GPWs sent to the White House. So the GPW pictured here might be the 10th, or 15th, Ford 12 volt GPW converted at the same time but sent to the Army for testing instead of to the White House for guard duty. Enjoy, and a Happier New Year to all!

Very interesting information about the Presidential Security aspect of those 12 Volt jeeps !
A G member found one of the original bodies with the cowl battery box and put it on his jeep.
He recently listed it in the for sale section. I don't know if it is one of the Presidential ones, or if other cowl battery compartmented jeeps were made ?
