Great photo! This MZ-2 has the late war triangular antenna mast box with the smaller MP-57 antenna base mounted on it, and the closest MZ radio cabinet has the later knurled knobs on its cover stored on top. The soldier in the upper left is either transmitting a message or eating an apple, I can't tell which. Judging by the nice tans and later radio equipment, it looks like this photo was taken somewhere in the Pacific Islands in late 1944 or 1945. Thanks for posting it. :)

Marines, Fred. They are wearing USMC P41 trousers. Soldiers are in the Army........ and the Marine is doing neither. He is puffing a cigarette.

Here another photo taken of a MZ/MB nom / GPW radio jeep in the ETO during the Dragoon landing, August 44, southern France. US 3rd div is preparing for the landing. I would be interested if there is more ETO pics available.

Cor, do a google search on Black and White Photographs Hand Colored in WWII and you will see they were accented like the jeep.

That looks great!

Pretty well shot up radio Jeep (most likely an NOM-12), date and caption not provided.

PFC David O. Ryan in his NOM-12 with its antenna box moved to the rear. Taken on Siapan.

Is that a common placement of the antenna with the MB NOM?

I agree with Farrell... on that photo you can see some kind of patch covering the hole where the antenna should be and no grab bar.

We also have a photo with a heavy steel guard that wraps around the antenna box.

Just driving around I occasionally get close to hitting the box so I’m not too surprised to see the USMC trying to move it.

Thanks guys, I Will put the antenna on the side where it belongs, despite the fact that it is not so practical. I am used to it, while driving the usmc amb jeep in traffic with a closed top😀
