This discussion is not meant to belittle this rare Jeep.
Here are a few things that I noticed.....

Has M38 windshield frame, canvas top, top bows, bow holders. Should have CJ3A type windshield, canvas top, and parts. Should not have tools on the side. Should not have MB handles on the body. Wrong headlight rings. Front lifting rings missing. Shouldn't have side reflector. Needs combat wheels.

Should not have a rifle holder on windshield frame. Starter pedal wrong.
Image

Inspection data plate missing. Looks like it had a radio installed at some point and the radio data plate is gone now.
Image

Wrong ignition switch. Has toggle switch in place of choke cable. Wrong type throttle cable. Amp, temp and oil gauges are modern replacements.

Bumperettes are installed right side up, like M38. Should be upside down, like an MB :) . Wrong taillight.
Image

Should not have fuel filler guard.
Image

12 volt, 2 pulleys on water pump, black out driving light, hood hinge drain gutter.
Image

Late fording valve. Some wiring and plumbing issues.

Overall a great looking Jeep!!! Wish it were mine.

I don’t think that is what was meant at all, Bob.

It is just… when they worked on this CJ-V35/U it is obvious to those who know V35/U jeeps that this particular example is incorrect in some significant areas.

The actual body, frame and drive train appear to be there, but the items Bob W has noted make the jeep look more like an M-38 than the CJ-V35/U that it is.

Here is Doug Beckwith's CJ-V35/U.

The biggest item not shown on Chet’s jeep is the extra generator running from the PTO between the front seats.

Now, not knowing anything about the circumstances surrounding the purchase and work done on Chet's V35/U, all we can do to help out here is point out what is incorrect.

I hope Chet understands we like his jeep, just want to help him make it a more accurate representation.

It is the correct Jeep, and a very nice one too. John asked for our thoughts about it. I think discussion about things like this is good. There are a few MB and M-38 type parts that have been added, and a couple original parts that are missing. Unfortunately my comments seem negative but that is not the intent.

Mark - Many years ago Doug told me his V35 was a Navy jeep that he marked as a Marine version.
