DOG FIGHTS

Post by TOPSGT » Mon Nov 13, 2006 4:41 pm

Has anyone seen the new series on the History Channel 'Dog Fights'?

If not its worth watching. Proberbly the best computer generated planes and fight scenes I have seen. Truly amazing and realistic !

Fiday they did one on Robbin Olds, from not only his Viet Nam experience but his WW2 in a P-38 as well. Robbin Olds even gave naration as to what you were watching.

Cool

This is the second season of it. Well worth a look. I particularly enjoyed the mig alley episode.

There is also a show done in the same manner with CGI on WWII battles.

I agree, the Mig Alley was by far my favorite, but the F-4's sliding in behaind the Mig 21 was mighty impressive as well.

The first season episode featuring Randy Cunningham's and Willie Driscoll's Showtime 100(F-4J phantom) was a very good one. Shot down 3 Mig 17s in one mission. Was finally hit by a Sam but manged to fly the plane to open water. The last few miles with the tail off the aircraft!

Ok, maybe a bit off topic but I thought air combat fans might find this amusing-
When I was in 8th grade I got my first "girlfriend"- not that it means much at that age. She was the daughter of the highest scoring fighter pilot of the Vietnam War. My dad worked at the Army War College at the time, and I remember him telling me what her dad was known for and thinking it was pretty cool. Well I guess he said something to him at the office because the next day I was in for a surprise. When the day came to "meet the dad" (you always expect the worst, right?) I was greeted with a "here's a signed picture of me" saying "the sky is the limit!"
It is the first and only time I have ever met a girl's parents where I was presented with an autographed photo of her father.
:)
I still have it though.
