Nice Jugs

Post by rwdfresno » Wed Oct 04, 2006 3:05 pm

It seems there are a lot of Mustang and Spitfire lovers in here but "real" warbirds have radial engines  . I would rather look at a P-47 Thunderbolt (or Jug as they lovingly called them) over a Mustang or Spit any day. Here is the one owned by WestPac Restorations in Rialto CA.

In SA that would be used as slang when one refers to a woman with nice tits !!

O yes ...and I like Jugs and P-47's :D

Yeah, same here in the USA that is why I couldn't help but make it the subject. I happen to be a fan of both myself lol.

Ryan,

These feelings must come from you having been raised on the old Double D Ranch............

Steve,

That is what happens when your parents name you after an airplane... I guess I lucked out though I could have been named Limburg Davis lol ... if I would have popped out as a girl I would have been named Amelia - no joke.

The P-47D has to be my favourite fighter of WW2. Nice to see the 78th FG, Duxford, UK markings on that P-47!!

I live in Parker, Colorado, and I swear I've seen a P47 flying over several times. Does anybody know of a P47 in the Denver area?

YOu can look up registrations by make and model at the FAA's website. It will tell you how many of any particular model are located in each state.

I remember seeing a P47 that flew out of Kalamazoo Michigan. There is a warbird museum there.

Admiring a P-47 is like admiring a "Brinks" armored truck at a car show. Personally, for a radial engine Warbird Fighter, I prefer the F4U Corsair. On a low, dirty pass or landing approach with flaps and gear down she is really sexy. On a high low speed pass, she is a vengeful Goddess. Now, my favorite Warbird Fighter of them all is the P40 Warhawk. That aircraft was made for a shark's mouth and in fact looks like a Great White. The P-40 held her own and proved a viable foe against her advisaries. I design, build and fly Radio Control Warbirds and enjoy that hobby immensely. I am also a member of the Commerative Air Force. The only thing between owning a full scale Warbird and me is money. Man, they are pricy!

My favorite fighter is the P-47, my favorite medium bomber is the B-26 Marauder (not the havoc), but my favorite warbird packs a whoping 190 horses, it has a 6 cyl Lycoming 0-435, and is the the most beautiful warbird ever invented, it is the L-5. All other L-birds cant hold a candle to this aircrafts track record.

JeepaHolic,
I'm taking my flying lessons in a Military Taylorcraft L-2 this spring. My instructor says that aircraft suits me, as imbedded as I am to WWII nostalgia. I have to agree with him. I love all Tail Draggers.

My favorite Navy fighter is the F8F Bearcat. I love Corsairs, especially the Super Corsair, don't get me wrong but the Bearcat to me represents the pinnacle of piston engine fighters. They look mean just sitting on the ramp.

By the way all of you L-bird owners in CA need to make it out for the Eagle Field fly-in and 1940's dinner dance. http://www.eaglefield.net
