You should keep it and enjoy it for a while, don't be in such a hurry to unload it you may find someone that actually needs it.

Clint,
I actually need this hatch for my B-29 "The Big Time Operator" nose section restoration, but it seems that I don't have anything that the owner wants in trade. :(
My B-29 is believed to be the highest mission Superfortress left in the U.S. with 46 bombing missions, 8 mining missions and 2 Japanese aircraft shot down.
She can be seen here:
http://www.questmasters.us/B-29_BTO.html
more parts can be seen on the facebook fan site:
http://www.facebook.com/QuestMastersMuseum

I would very much like to have (buy/trade/whatever) this hatch for this historic B-29 restoration. :)
Thanks,
Van

Bombs away replica 250lb is $650.00 per their website maybe you can order one of those and kick in some cash and seal the deal. Have no idea what the market will bring on the hatch but we all know warbirds parts make armor look cheap.

I was just having a little fun but I'm sure you guys can consummate this marriage eventually. :D

Clint,
Yes, warbird parts vs vehicle parts are night and day. But, this has to do with several factors. First is, if it is serviceable for flight. Second is, how many airframes are out there and what parts are needed for restoration and sustainment. For example, P-51 Mustang parts are worth more than gold in some cases.
There is currently one one flying B-29 (Fifi) and one more flying B-29 on the way (Doc). There is only one project B-29 for sale, and it has been for sale for more than a couple of decades.
I really don't think the window is worth $650 in trade plus extra cash. But, I am not the owner of the window, so I don't set the price.

I am very interested in the window and could use it for my static restoration.
Thanks,

Van,

Just read the thread and wanted to say you have an awesome project and my hats off to your efforts! My grandfather was a civil service mechanic and flight engineer on B-29s at Kelly Field during WWII and Korea. If I lived closer I would volunteer to help you with it. Every once in a while I run across warbird parts and if I come across an emergency hatch or any other B-29 parts I will let you know. Again hats off to what you are doing!!!

Best,
Red

If the hatch was mine, I would give it to you free of charge, there are really no other projects that need a hatch except for yours. Sometimes certain things just need to be placed in the right home.

Thanks!
I could really use the hatch for the restoration of the B-29 "The Big Time Operator". But, the current owner of it isn't budging with it. I've asked him several times.
