I'm 5'11" and don't quite have a tankers build around the midsection... but I do have fairly short legs and a long torso...

If you want lots of room the V100 is like a school bus inside compared to an m8 or M20 but I try not to compare the two since they are from different eras. It's like comparing the ride and drivability of an MB and an M151. From a history standpoint M8 ALL THE WAY BABY GO TEAM GO!

Go for the m20. Finding anything for the m8 is a nightmare.

To expand on what it's like to drive these, I'm 6-1 about 215lbs with 32 inch inseam. Tall enough in the torso to be able to pull on the wheel to stick my head out the front a bit to look right and left when needed in traffic. Direct vision ports in the hull are too small to use most of the time but work OK at stop signs especially the left one. Shorter-torsoed drivers will need a seat pad to stick their head out the front. Wartime photos show drivers sometimes with head above the hull, so obviously they are on a thick pad. Pedals are close and it is MUCH more comfortable if a small heel rest is welded onto the hull for the right heel. I used a short piece of half inch angle steel. On the left side there is a dead pedal on the hull next to the clutch so when you plan to use the clutch you can rest your foot on the dead pedal and the clutch is quick to get to. But for cruising you can stretch your left leg all the way to the front of the hull, under and to the left of the pedal. In the M8 the bigger issue is the closeness of the seat to the clutch and brake pedals.....tall guys have their knees in their face in order to get a foot on either one....solved with a bracket that lets us move the seat back 6 inches (if the jerry can is removed so the turret seat holder doesn't bump into the can when rotating the turret.)
I have no trouble getting out but it would be difficult with a bad shoulder and maybe one bad knee. You pull your feet back so almost in a squat, reach up to get your elbows out of the hull, and work arms and legs together. Of course going in gravity is your friend!

Have you considered an M3a1 White Scout Car as an alternative? It’s got the armor, cool factor, and is easy to drive on the street.
