Wish you lots of luck in your quest to find an FT-17 for sale, anywhere in the world...
The only one I know of, which is in private hands, is the one owned by Hayes Otoupalik in the United States. In appeared in an episode of "Lock 'n Load" in 2009.

The US Army brought back a FT-17 from Afganistan a few years back, I believe. Make it easier for yourself and go look for a needle in a haystack.

Hayes was my first stop and he has been very helpful! And if it was easy then I think everyone would be doing it! There were 236 sent to Canada in the 40's and since then they have found at least three survivors in various states of disrepair...so never say never! And I appreciate all input!

There used to be one about an hour drive from where I grew up but I was 16 and in HS (early 1990s) and I didn't have the 15K the guy wanted for it. It ended up selling and now is in a very nice collection and is under restoration, if they haven't finished it yet. Wish I would of bought as they can go 100K plus for a restorable unit.

I was told they used a turret ring for the camera mount for Star Wars Ewok scene. I know where it sits today as I see it almost daily.

There is one in the Littlefield's collection. 2/3 of his collection will be going up for auction in June. Not sure if it is on the list of auction items or not. If you like tanks keep a look out for this auction.

Re: Wanted: M1917 6 ton tank/ Renault FT-17
Hi guys I appreciate all the enthusiastic responses, I'm not so delusional that I think I will find an undiscovered barn tank, but you never know where parts and pieces might turn up, It looks like there are a lot of complete tanks sitting as monuments in Brazil, not sure if they may be interested in trading for other tanks or vehicles or if it is even feasible to logistically work a deal. I am pretty familiar with the ones recovered in Afghanistan and even before the US military found them, US tank collectors had already examined and abandoned the idea of repatriating them due to the bribes that would be necessary to secure the deal. I do hope that if I can get the word out I may be able to find enough parts and pieces to do something with. I had a friend in Canada who was contracted to build a replica for a museum in Spain, and before the deal fell through he had talked to Brent Mullins who had some leads on a firm in Europe who makes new cast tracks. I haven't had a chance to chase that lead down with Brent but I do know he also has a M1917 in his collection either being restored or waiting to be. As for the one at the Littlefield collection, I am not sure but I think the Collings Foundation will probably want to keep most of the tanks that have real US historical value, but you never know. Once again I am a good 30 years behind on my hunt but even so I still have managed to collect some pretty interesting tanks! Will I live long enough to restore them all? Probably not but I am going to die trying!

The M1917 6 ton in the Littlefield Collection will be going to the Collings Foundation.

There is one up at the Rhinebeck WWI aerodrome in NY. They run it around during the events. I doubt it is for sale but they may have leads. Dont hurt to ask. dan
