Converting to Diesel

Post by karoja » Tue Jul 18, 2006 4:19 pm

Does anybody have any experience with installing a diesel engine into a 404.1 using the Haas manual, or any other?

Not me personally, but its done often on 404s here in the states. I think the transplant of choice is out of d300 benz. I can't remember which engine it is. I think there are a few mods needed to get the engine to bolt up to the transfer case, if you search unimog diesel transplant on google you should be able to find plenty of info.
Good luck.

Check with Dirk at the Unimog Wherehaus, tell him Greg Trent thought he might be able to help with this. I think he's done a few of the M. Haas kits in the past. Me, I've never done it, but I have seen it done, have a few books, etc. Not a big deal, as long as you get the bell housing.
