Wtb: 12 v rear lamp (service tail/service stop)

Post by wc56daveyboy » Thu Dec 07, 2017 11:37 am

This is the oval "ruby" bulb as used on the left (drivers side) of the vehicle, used for the service tail and service stop light.

Vintage power wagons and Midwest military sold out.

Only thing available is to buy the complete unit, housing and both lights.

6v units still available. It's the 12v units I can't find.

Anyone have a lead and/ or a few bulbs for sale?

Thanks

In about an hour you can unsolder and uncrimp the housing, insert a new 12V bulb (mark the tips before removing the old one) and resolder the piece. All for the cost of a 12V bulb at the autostore. 6V housing can be converted to 12V this way too, it's only the bulb.
I was thinking of doing this with my next set using LEDs to see if there would be a significant difference, but the bulbs I soldered in back in the 90's are still working.

Paul FitzGerald restores original bulbs to 6 or 12-volt versions of a high-intensity LED light. Stop/Tail and BO Stop and BO Tail versions are available. The difference is astounding. Not some cheapo-plastic POS as some show up on ebay, but a REALLY bright Stop/Tail that when you do a side-by-side comparison you know which one you want back here!

Check the General Discussion forum.
