Hopefully I may have a CCKW Shaft that still has the 7/1/6" NF X 1-1/8" Shouldered Bolts . Will also scrounge old GMC Parts Bins for you.

So...did this get decided that the TR the A or the blank headed pintle hook bolts were correct for the MB?
Does it depend on the DOD of the jeep? (Early = TR for instance?)

If Niblet is looking for them it would help him and everyone else to have a timeline here....what does Lloyd's book say?

Chuck, I have all 5 of Lloyd’s MB books and I haven’t been able to find anything on Pintle hook bolts.....not yet any way...not loosing sleep over it.

All I can say for sure is that my Sept ‘44 MB #369488 has plain head pintle hook bolts. I haven’t removed them yet but I’m confident they are it’s originals...still has the two trailer hook eye bolts also.

The C/TR bolts I removed from my Oct ‘44 MB #379204 are coarse thread....so obviously not originally affixed there at the factory.....just need to figure out where else on the jeep this size and type of bolt were used.

Tim, as soon as I can I’ll get over to my other MB and remove one bolt and report back. I have it in storage.

My 3/28/1945 MB was never taken apart. It was bought surplus by a fire department in 1946 and we bought it from them in 2003. For the most part the bolts are marked but a lot are not. My pintle hook bolts are not marked. I even have a mixture of marked bolts and unmarked bolts holding parts on. IMO your just fine with unmarked bolts but marked bolts could be correct as well. Hope you find some.

I removed one off my May'45 MB and AA marked, which I believe to be unmolested originals 7/16 x 1 3/8" NF.

Jerrykans,
Since it is 7/16 thread, may we assume a 5/8ths inch wrench head? A unique fastener for the G503.The only other 7/16ths NF bolts AFAIK are the three longer steering box bolts...MB radiator shroud studs to frame were,also.Thanks.

Jerrykans. You are saying that the bolts are 1 3/8" long. Is that correct or a typo. Most people and books list them as 1 1/8" long.

I just checked the parts list for the Tandem Tow Bar, there is a Pintle Hook Reinforcing Plate that adds thickness to the rear cross member, the kit reuses the two 7/16" X 1-1/8" Bolts. 1-3/8" is longer than what the TM 10's and SNL's list.

If I wasn’t such an idiot I could post some photos that would be so much easier. Perhaps one of you could PM me an email I could send some photos to and you could post here for me? Thanks
