WTB: Late Sept '44 MB Head....DESPERATE!!!!

Post by Michael O. » Mon Oct 16, 2017 6:34 pm

I've got the engine that I'm planning on using for MB 379204 (MB 488057...cast 9-28, machined 9-30-44) at the machine shop and I'm still looking for an appropriately dated to go with it. I would like to locate a head dated from about 9-21 to about 9-28 "Willys" and "Jeep" cast on it.

Thanks in advance!

This engine is coming along well...most guys wouldn’t resurrect a late war engine like this given the condition it was in (freeze crack, scored and pitted cylinder, etc) but luckily, my machine shop is working small miracles.....but this 9-28 cast motor still needs a head though! I don’t want to use just any old head from my pile since none are dated correctly. Does anyone have an appropriately dated cylinder head to fulfill my need?

Still looking for a nice late war MB head for engine # MB 488057, which is just about finished being resurrected. It’s previous life in Canada was rough! Anyone have a late September or very early Oct dated late war head to sell?

I am now getting desperate! The motor (MB 488057) is almost completely rebuilt. I really need a late war MB head dated from 9-21 to 9-29 if possible. I have a 9-20 dated head but that goes with another MB motor I am rebuilding. I just want to have a correctly dated head on my engine.

I have about 12 other MB and GPW heads that I can use as trade if need be.

Michael - I assume that means you are not interested in the 9/12 head? A response would be most courteous.

I’ve e-mailed you with an offer...haven’t heard back from you. I will take the 9/12 head if we can come to a reasonable price. Again, please check your e-mail.

Still looking for a 9/21 to 9/29 dated MB head.

Well, the MB head I bought for my motor MB 488057 is cracked and my machine shop isn’t able to repair it (not saying that it can’t be but it needs to go to a shop that can heat it in an oven, etc) so I am looking for another head.

I was planning on picking up my motor from the shop in Davenport next week so now I am VERY DESPERATE in my hopes to find an appropriately dated MB head!!!!! The machine shop is an 8-hour round trip drive so it would be nice to make on journey.

Please, let me know what you have! I have several other MB and GPW heads available for trade if need be! Unfortunately, none of my other MB heads date match this block. This is a factory restoration so you understand my desire for an appropriately dated head/engine block combination.
