My old 42 Willy's has one on the dash (which I want to keep) and one on the transfer case. What is your interest in Moore Equipment? Its not about the money. My Mom's family name is Moore so I always thought it might be distant family. Russ

Hi Russ,

The Moore Equipment Co. is located here in Modesto California. I was born and raised in Modesto California.... That is my connection. I have a WWII assembly manual issued by Moore in 1945 and several tags and am always looking to expand my collection. Where are you located? The Moore Co. refurbished about 3000 jeeps and it is always fun to see where they turn up.

Thanks,
matt

Matt, I got this rebuilt jeep in 1972 in San Juan Capistrano. It was being driven by a lady cowboy on Rancho Mission Viejo. It was a Slat Grille but they changed body, fenders, and grille. They went to the trouble of putting original data plate on new body. Otherwise lots of original parts. I've got just about everything to return it to slat. (Looking for speedo, rt air deflector, 4 KH solid disk wheels and early spare tire bracket.) I'll be at Tower Park all week. I'll bring the plate off the tranny. Russ

Matt,

What do they look like ? I have a reconditioned by Tag dated 1944. No name on it but a later stamping by the Marsh Creek Fire Dept. 1975. That might have been stamped over the Moore stamping ????

The tag is about 2"x6" heavy brass.

Lt Horne,

Unless they made several versions of these tags; highly unlikely since they only rebuilt 3000; the font you're using in your repro is not the same. At a glance, compare the letter "a" in the word "Contract."

Hi, I have recently acquired a 1942 MB with data number 129928(BRT) that was reconditioned by the Moore Equipment Company in Modesto CA on June 1945. The chassis is completely MB, but the body is completely GPW, my guess it happened with the refurbishing. Also the tranny/transfer case have the same tag. Just through this out there.

My 1943 is the same. MB chassis,44 engine, and running gear but with a script ford tub. I have a reconditioned tag on the dash too. Glad to hear there are more frankenjeeps out there.

Are you still looking for information about reconditioned plates on jeeps reconditioned in Modesto?

I have a March 42 GPW with Ford script tub. It was reconditioned in January 1945 and somehow made its way out to Australia. I'd love to find out more information about the jeep, and whether the shoddy metalwork was done in Modesto or in the years since the war.

Hi Dr Phil!

I have Gpw 3606 3-3-42; rebuilt but in an unknown plant since I miss the dataplate.

Could you measure very precisely the hole pattern of your tag, as I have the feeling that they are lightly different from ine plant to another?
That could help me ID my plant!
