Here's some pics of an LCVP project my brother and I purchased a couple months ago.
It was sitting in a yard about 25 miles away, and had been there for probably about 20 years if I had to guess.
As it sat:

The weekend after the deal was made we went up with bottle jacks, cribbing, and an m756a2 pipeline truck to try and get it up out of the dirt and sitting level. After getting it upright we loaded up the engine and brought that home, and then started figuring out had to get the boat out of there. Even though we're right on the lake none of the boat places wanted to deal with it so we arranged for a flatbed to move it and for a crane to load and unload it.

After a month it was still sitting upright, so we closed up the ramp and pumped out the water so it was set to go the next morning.

While it's more complete than what other people have started with some of the smaller parts are missing like winch parts, most of the covers, exhaust, etc. On the plus side the rudder, prop shaft and propeller, and of course the engine are all there so that's nice.

Very cool find. It looks like the mothership still exists, mothballed by the Navy and awaiting disposal.

Yes the mothership is still out there for a little while at least. I believe 2 of the LCVPs (number 3 and 4) are still around as well in Maine. There may even be another boat #2 like mine out there somewhere as I've seen an old pic of the LST with LCVP #2 on board but it's not the same hull number as mine.
