Slat MB Temp Gauge

Post by Michael O. » Sat Mar 31, 2018 2:26 pm

Did early MB Autolite temperature gauges have the wide studs like the oil gauge or were they the thinner type as found on later gauges? I’m wondering if a few of my temp gauges would be correct for an early MB? I’m aware that MB temp gauges had a 24” capillary tube.

I’ve not seen any my gauge on 101173 was totally destroyed but the remnants of it were the same as the standard gauge. But I don’t know it’s history.

Hi
Yes the early slats jeep had the wide studs same as the oil pressure gauges.
I also found out that at October 42 the temp gauges was chane to small standard studs same studs as the amp and fuel.
All autolite temp gauges face are all the same, if you put a small standard studs on the dash no one will look behind the dash.

I bought a Hugh bunch of gauges at Corowa for great price.
I have a few autolite temp gauges but only one has the wide studs.
Bought a few paint can gauges as well, 2 oil pressure, 1 amp, and 1 air pressure gauges for $30, I am going to restore them all.
I have now 7 original GAS gauges and 2 oil gauges are now on the way home as the face has been reprint its new face from rust to new.

Peter.....can you share with us the source of the information that the Autolite Temp Gauge had the larger mounting studs on it up to October 1942? Did this source also give a change date for the other gauges switching to a SMALL stud?
