Repro 16" solid disc wheels
After looking at rusty original solid disc wheels at $300.00 each. I started looking online for good repros. I found some, at (due to possible litigation this name is blocked) Jeep Parts, for $120.00 each (plus shipping, of course). He has a good reputation for carrying quality parts but does anyone know about these wheels? Are they going to crack like the Omix-Aida combat wheels?

I believe they are not correct 4” wheels.

Re: Repro 16" solid disc wheels
I vaguely recall there's a minor difference between the early MB wheels and the early CJ2A wheels, but it's not visible unless you take the wheel off. The repros from (due to possible litigation this name is blocked) look just like the correct '41-"42 wheels, and that's good enough for me. I'm not inclined to spend the next 20 years tracking down original wheels that are way overpriced and need sandblasting, just to get wheels that are undistinguishable from the repros. My principle is to use original parts whenever possible, but if I can't tell the difference between the originals and repros and no originals are available, I will definitely use the repros.

Re: Repro 16" solid disc wheels
Both the repro combat rims and solid disk rims are produced by MD Juan in the Philippines: http://mdjuan.com.ph/?s=rim&submit=Search. Omix-Ada is a distributor for MD Juan in the US.
The repro solid disk rims are 4.5" wide like the early CJ, not 4" wide like the slat grill. The side profile of the 4.5" wheel is visibly different from the 4" slat grill. To my knowledge no one is making an accurate repro 4" solid disk wheel (I wish someone would). For that reason I went with combat rims which are at least war time accurate and likely would have been installed as replacements to the solid disk wheels during service.

Hello,
There are a couple different manufacturers of combat rims/jeep rims !!!
According to another major post, the OMIX-ADA rims are thinner gauge steel, dangerously thin, and made in China !!!
MD Juan Combat Rims are made in the Philippines, with the correct gauge steel, and to original specifications !!
For a comparison posted by Rommel Juan .....

Be careful with what rim manufacturer you select !!!

Interesting that Omix is an MD Juan distributor yet he chooses to sell cheaper Chinese made wheels (for a higher price than most dealers are selling the MD Juan wheels!) That says a little something about his business model... That's a dealer I would avoid.

Hello,
I would hope that Omix Ada, as successful as it is, and a key supplier to restorers and the jeeping world,
would get on top of this very quickly, and RECALL all their dangerous thin gauge rims, ASAP !!
They would get great customer support by protecting customers from inferior and clearly dangerous rims !!!
Let us hope that they take immediate action !!!!!!
