Slat Grill zippered seat cushions

Post by Michael O. » Mon Aug 14, 2017 4:56 pm

Just wanted to get a consensus on the zipper configuration on Slat Grill MB seat pan cushions.

According to information posted on the G, the zipper started (zipped closed) at the left rear and went to the right front (unzipped) and the rear seat pan cushion was without a zipper. Is this correct?

I'm having a set of cushions made for my Jan '42 MB and wanted to make sure they are correct and that they weren't configured in the same was as the VEP and mid series GPW's (left front to right rear).

Thanks in advance!

I'm of the opinion that if your jeep had zippered front seats then the rear seat was zippered as well...there are those slat grill experts on this forum who may have better intel than I do however....

I do believe that the key to this would be to look at the WO part numbers for each contract at Willys....if the number changed, so did the cushion!

Does anyone have a photo of an early MB zippered rear bottom seat cushion?

While were on the subject of seats guys, was all the cushions the same thickness, or variable ? My better half has started to complain of a sore butt when we go any distance, i told her they were all standard but i await your valued opinions, and so does my good lady. :)

I believe the thickness of the padding changed with the addition of the springs. The pads were thinner on the spring type seats.

Wasn't that the purpose of the zippered cushions? You could put your GI blanket in there for extra padding.
