I purchased an MDJ slatgrill body from Ron.
Im trying to mount the muffler to the bottom of the body but there are no muffler mount tabs on the bottom of the body to connect the muffler hardware and hangers to. Anyone know if early jeeps had the two muffler mounting tabs? Seems like the tub should have come with the mounts.
Aby thoughts? Ron is out of the office this week.

The front mounting bracket is held in place by a bolt through the floor & hat channel, the rear bracket is held with a "U" bracket welded to the floor if I have it straight.

Tks Chuck.
Ok, new issue....
Several original slat bodies that I own have a hex bolt for the front mount instead of a carrage bolt.
Did slats have a hex bolt or carrage bolt for the front muffler support?
Looks like a 3/8" x 1 1/2" corse, 2 flat washers, nut and a special lock type of nut simular looking to a ( group 0102 part 5009 bearing cap to crankcase screw lockwasher). They look like a pot metal nut. Im also finding this same hardware for body to frame attachments. I have photos but cant post for some reason.
Any thoughts?
Tks,

Re: Slatgrill muffler to body mounting problem, help?
I have seen the ⅜" hex head bolt more often than the carriage head bolt for that front muffler mount on early WILLYS. I wouldn't swear to it that the hex bolt is the correct way to go but it has just my observation. I have seen both.
There is a pal nut on that rusty bolt you show. I hope that the JEEP is in better shape than the bolt.
