Correction to my last.... I found a new battery for my caliper and the screw length comes out at 0.625 inch or 5/8ths.

Sorry, I have been living in "Europe" for too long and my English imperial units are a bit rusty :D

Hinrik,

Based on your photo's, you are without a doubt, the owner of more of the most sought after and hardest to find original Slat Grill Restoration Part. I had long thought that distinction belonged to the "Hinged Tobe Filterette" but after having found Four in as many months, I am now convinced it is the "A-2924 Windshied Curtain Fastener (Top To Windshield).

I received my package from Restoration Specialties & Supplies containing one (1) part #63313 and one (1) part #63314. As I speculated in an earlier post, Part #63313 is an exact copy of my original. The only exception of course is #63313 has a chrome finish and the tip where the threads start are slightly different. All the measurements are the same, I do not have a pretty digital caliper like Hinrik but my "Older than I am Starrett" is pretty accurate..

I have yet to master the ability to post photos but I will try again after I get some taken. It looks like all we need now is the recipe for the "Cold Gun Blueing Solution" and then we will have to figure out what the NEW "hardest to find original Slat Grill Restoration Part" will be..

Not so fast Rick,

I just go off the phone with Barb from Restoration Specialties. I was trying to order 10 of the 63313. She said they were all out. :x We got to talking a little and I stated that I knew she had just recently had at least one (which was sent to you). She remembered, and commented that she had also sent you 63314. Sadly she said since it's an NOS part they have no idea of if or when they'll be back in stock. So even though we have "found" the part- none of us can actually "have" the part  .

Chris,

The very nice to talk to Barb just might be more shrewd of a BusinessWoman than I thought.

When I spoke with her I explained(MAYBE TO MUCH) about my quest for this part and how I had willingly paid $10
each for an original version. I was very clear with her that after comparing the two versions she was sending me and making a determination of which was closest to my original I would be ordering at least 20 or 30 of them. Barb gave me no indication she would not be able to fill my order.

Barb just might have figured out the $3.75 each she was charging was way less than she could get for them in the right place and the stock she had is now being relabeled and the purchase price raised accordingly?? It will be interesting to see if the next time she has the part in stock the price has gone up considerably more than what I paid??

If there is one good thing came out of this it would have to be that the two pieces I have are now worth more than what I paid for them..

Are you the only WWII Jeep Canvas supplier who uses the correct configuration and I.D. Eyelets on the A-3216 Jeep Tarps?

Farrel,

I seem to remember you were going to have these made somewhere and make them available.

Did you make that happen??

Look forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks....

Farrell Fox wrote:Yes indeed! However you'd need to strip the nickel plating off to get any sort of black on them.

They make blackening kits for nickel plated products. Used them multiple times on motorcycles bolts and parts.
