"Rat Patrol" Lunchbox

Post by Hammerhead » Sat Sep 02, 2017 1:09 pm

I recently dug this out of a box of my childhood belongings. I had it back in Third Grade in 1968. Thought I would share with every one.

If you took that to school today you'd likely be expelled, arrested and sent for a psych evaluation!

I'm pretty sure my brother had one of these.
I missed the show as I was too young (born in 1969) but my brother was a big fan (I assume he caught it in re-runs as a little kid, he's 5 years older than me). They never showed it on any TV station I've ever lived in.
Believe it or not, I've never watched one second of it.
I even bought the DVD of season 1, several years back, and I've never watched a single show, even to this day.

Regarding Lee and the Rat Patrol DVDs: Well Lee, don't you think its about time you put down those scale-model railroading magazines and straightened out your priorities?

Being a "FOG" myself, I watched not only "Rat Patrol" but the "Combat!" series on TV...While the "Rat Patrol" series seemed to be more of a shoot 'em up, bang, bang series, the "Combat!" series seemed to have a moralistic approach to WWII and often had storylines with the French peasants, partisans and the Germans as well as Sgt. Saunders's squad. I think I liked "Combat!" a little better because the writing/stories were better. Or maybe that's just my own preferences.

With 152 one-hour episodes and five seasons (the last had 25 in color), Combat! did overshadow Rat Patrol with 58 30-minute episodes and the time slots for Rat Patrol limited the audience in the USA....

If you had both the Rat Patrol and the Combat! lunchboxes you'd be king of the schoolyard!
