Interested in aqcuiring a military radio used for display only
I am assembling my 'radio equipment' in the M1026 that I am working on. I have dual shelf arrangement and the lower section will be occupied by a bracket mounting some VIC-3 FFCS's. I am looking for a small, non functioning (case only?) military radio w/mike & cord to mount on the top shelf along with a small CB and a small HAM radio that I want to actually use. The smaller and the less expensive options would be preferred. Thanks!

Re: Interested in aqcuiring a military radio used for display only
I have narrowed my search to locating a 'dummy' RT 524, or equivalent looking radio. I only want it for display purposes and am looking for it at this time as I am mounting the other components to my radio shelves. Would anyone be so kind as to provide some dimensions that I might account for the space it will use? Thanks!

Most of the radios used in the HMMWV's both older style and newer all still slide into a mount.
I would suggest you find a 524 mounting bracket and at least attach it to the radio tray so you can have its eventual footprint clear of other stuff.
The 524 mounts should be fairly cheap. Normally the RT-524 was accompanied by a R-442. ( Together they pretty much eat up the upper shelf).
I don't think you have the right upper tray either since the ears on the back are sticking up to high.
Either that or your using an odd ball lower tray.
I have a R-442 mount in storage not sure about the RT -524 mount.
I can look. I know you have been asking questions regarding the Vic -3 stuff.
If you are trying to make your install look correct the older Vic -1 system is correct for RT-524 / R-442.
