swap glass to Ibis Tek knockouts??
I have a set of heated thick m1151 windshields. Is there any way, and would they fit?, to remove the glass and fit them into a set of ibistek knockout windshield frames?

Re: swap glass to Ibis Tek knockouts??
I just mounted the knock out windows into my standard (1026) up armored window frame. I had to place a spacer on the bottom 1/8-1/4 to center mount the windows into the frame and push down frame vent. They fit right into place the last two issue I need to resolve is the A/C vent is now pushed to forward on the driver side and the knock out handles need spacers to tighten into the frame. I placed some wood spacers to get measurements and will place metal spacers once I validate if I have any leaks with a water hose. I just checked no leaks.

What I was meaning is that all the Ibis Tek knockout frames for sale have delaminated glass. At least all the ones I have seen for sale. Can you remove the glass from the Ibis Tek knockout frames and put the other standard thick glass in them? From what I’ve heard you can’t.

That is a good question, would you be trying to install the 1151 ballast glass in the ibis frames? Do you have the correct ibis window frame? Can you post a picture? I'm researching the spacer configuration. There was a post on SS from https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthrea ... windshield Dave from Eastern who may have your answer.

When I can reach the spacer parts in the garage I’ll get you a pic. It’s basically a aluminum machined piece that first attaches to windshield to create the inch or so space and then the flat plates attach to that.

Yes, the M1151 glass is the same dimension as the IBIS Emergency Egress Windows. We have done a couple of these now. You have to cut out the glass from the aluminum M1151 style frame as it is epoxied in.

What tool did you find easy use to cut the epoxy?

Sorry for the late reply. Did you figure this out? My body shop guys did these windows, not sure what tools they use, but any windshield glass company should be able to do it.

You can use the Fein saw oscillating tool comes with various blades, work around the frame rather than burn the blade in one spot or heat up the epoxy, usually I use a small flat head screw driver to remove the bulk of the epoxy then clean up with the tool
