24 volt to 12 volt converter

Post by RockHillWill » Mon Nov 06, 2017 3:20 am

What is some current thinking regarding the size of a converter needed to use for GPS, HAM radio, CB radio use in my M1026? I want to keep as original appearance as possible so I am looking for not only the capacity and size of a converter, but where it might best be located. Thanks.

Take a look at this one on Ebay, $209.00 used on my M1026 runs everything you mentioned. I installed it on my lower radio deck with a large disconnect plug to the battery....
For sale.....One , NEW, NEWMAR 32-12-35 DC-DC CONVERTER 20-50VDC TO 13.6 VDC @ 35A
This converter is new in the box. Made in USA.
They sell for $569 to $800 each on other web sites. Google it and go to the NewMar web site for more info.
I got a good deal on a few of these and passing it on to the winning bidder.
Great for Military equipment running 24 volts systems to power 12 volt items.
Convert 20-50 VDC to 12 VDC output for powering communication/ navigation equipment, on negative ground systems.
Ideal for powering voice, data and navigation transceivers in mobile and marine applications.

What about using a RigRunner with Powerpole setup and just hardwire that to the 12V terminal in the battery compartment. I used the 4004 USB model and has fuses on it. Then you can just terminate your radio or GPS power cable to Powerpole connector.
